172 Revs at 2k at idle

Ever since the cold weather has set in have been slowing down if behind someone at lights or in traffic and the revs have been going to 2000k it weird because i can bring it to bite without even haveing foot on the accellerator. is this an idle sensor problem or a accellerator problem? also if i tap the accellerator it will go back down to normal but this really annoying because people give me well funny looks idling at 2k lol. any help would be great

Check the throttle body is working fully i the cable ins't stuck its a common problem for them to stick, new cables are quite cheap and easy enough to do.
