172 v 182 Differences

  Mondeo
Anybody have good knowledge of what the actual differences were between the 172 and 182?

i.e. did they just btweak the ECU to gain more PS, or is there more to it than that.

I appreciate that the 182 has the twin rear pipes (my 172 is standard single). I am guessing the twin pipes are for looks more than anything really, as early Range-Rover P38a's had a single pipe and that dealt with the air that a 4.6 V8 pumped out burning a gallon every ten miles, but later ones had twin!

Difference on the 182 is that it has the twin exhuasts and also a lot better and less restrictive manifold. Changing this they would of had to change the calibrations on the ECU.
