182 in Limp Mode at Bodyshop - HELP

  Black Gold, Recaro 182
Hi guys

I'm after some advice here. My 182 went into the body shop to have some very light damage to the front end repaired. They called today to say it is all fixed and ready for collection but when they took it on a test drive it would not rev above 3000rpm and it has gone into limp mode.

The car was running perfectly when it was dropped off to them and we have never had a problem with the engine in the 6 years we have owned the car.

The bodyshop basically said they are washing their hands of it and will put it on a flat bed and drop it off at Renault for them to sort out at out expense. I have called the insurance company and they have raised a complaint but I'm not sure where I stand and what to do.

Looking on forums and speaking to mates who are good mechanics, they seem to think the bodyshop have damaged a wiring loom when it has been repaired. Basically it was running perfectly when it was dropped off and now it is not!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Easiest way is let the bodyshop put it into Renault/specialist and diagnose the fault - if they find trapped/broken wires or something along those lines then the bodyshop pay, if it was a coincidence and it's another issue unrelated then you pay mate

Could be conincidence mate. I drove my car to Heathrow no problem, left it in the car park 2 days and when I came back I now have an intermittent misfire.

So it can and does happen.

Check the connections on the throttle body and the pedal position sensor (box at the top of the accelerator pedal)
