Would anyone recommend anywhere in Scotland for this? Would rather have it rr'd and mapped to suit rather than a generic map plus getting to see the before and afters would be good!

Been searching the forums/Google and most commonly recommend is rs tuning/efi but would rather somewhere reputable that's a bit closer but would be willing to travel otherwise

Also how many hours labour(rough price) would it be to install cams? Looking at purchasing 438s

What mod's do you have? If minor then an off the shelf map (RS Tuner maybe) would be fine. Nothing stopping you putting it on a RR yourself to see the before and afters.

Ecotune in Hillington or Performance HQ in Dalgety Bay are both reputable mappers in this area.

Installing cams would be a few hundred in labour from a specialist I'd reckon. It's a full belt replacement job plus a bit more and I'm sure I was 200ish for a belt and dephaser change alone.

Right now pretty much standard except a ktec exhaust system going to buy the 438 cams and a decat from ktec on Friday, don't want to go down the rstuner route as I don't want to lock the ecu as I plan on going down the turbo route in a few months when Andy at clioturbo isn't so busy! I'm sure the cams etc would show a better improvement mapped to suit aswell, has anyone got a similar setup using rstuner maps?

GI Motorsport in Kilmarnock can sort you out

Cheers mate have you used them personally?

Is the changing of belts necessary when changing the cams as the belts where replaced literarly 1.5k miles ago

SWR in Stirling fitted cams and mapped @Michaelfoz 's Clio a while back.

Swr are fully booked up for the next month I phoned them a few days regarding something else

Ideally I would like to take it to a Renault specialist then possibly else where to be mapped but I'm presuming the car wouldn't run properly without being mapped to suit the cams?

I've used them for mechanical work on my Clio, but not mapping. I have seen a couple of Clio's they've mapped. They also support 90% of the Scottish Clio's doing SLS and Gaz is a former Renault Tech

If i had to use someone in scotland i would use russ at HQ in dalgety bay, also if the dephaser wasn't done at the last belt change i would have that done aswel.

Buying cams, fitting and mapping of cams will be the best part of £1000 also if you plan to go turbo i wouldn't bother with the 438's

The dephaser and belts all got changed 1500 miles ago seems pointless to change them again so soon unless the belts would be damaged changing the cams somehow?

Why wouldn't you recommend the 438 cams if I plan on going turbo route soon any technical reason behind this? I thought that would of benefited it even more but saying that am no very technically minded with these cars lol

Definitely some good advice on this thread top guys!

Got quoted 1050 to fit the cams and remap it does this sound about right? This is with me supplying the cams

Holy thread revival, batman!

Looking to have the 182 mapped and dont know where to go. (Eml is on from decat)

The prices range from 250 to 400. The latter is a proper custom job apparently instead of just flashing a pre done chip and tweaking. Dont know wether I should you go for the more expensive option or the cheaper pre developed option by evolution chips. Need advice!!

Cars is on 49k and only performance mods are a ramair panel filter and manifold back decat rs192 exhaust

I ended up having my first 182 done down at sos motorsport in Falkirk and dave knows his stuff would highly recommend him and he has a good reputation aswell. My car at the moment that's cammed and has head work and few other bits was mapped by Scoff at EFI.

  dan's cast offs.
Generic maps aren't worth a carrot!! The cars can vary so much it's pretty much pointless.

If you're thinking about cams though I've just started playing with the timing on the standard cams, the car in doing it with made bloody good power to begin with so will have to ignore figures and just compare the graphs.

Although over 190bhp and 170lb/ft on standard cams isn't to be sniffed at

Well its £400 for a proper remap and not just a generic map... flashing some premade settings. Thats a lot of wedge for like 5-10bhp in my experience... but if it' gonna make the driviabilty better and maybe even out the power etc and sort out tweaks here and there then maybe it is.

  Clio 182
Had prices from 250 to 400.. 400 for full on custom stuff and the cheaper is the pre made stuff before and after on the dyno

  Clio 182
If I had the days off and time i would. This is by ecotune in Glasgow who are pretty highly regarded. But if the general consensus is that 400 is a bit of a bump then I'll probably stead clear and find somewhere else.

Not round the corner then lol. Did kind of guess it would have been that far.

Only thing I can suggest is book in to efi early so you beat traffic etc. Get it mapped etc and be home by like 2 ish, ish....

Mines mapped and I really do rate it.

Save a few quid with the RenaultSport Remap Master Paul @ RS Tuning. I just happen so to be having a groupbuy on at the mo. £100 saving ( that will pay for hotel and some beer for the night ... )

I'm optimistic ecotune will deliver a similar outcome as efi but at a cost by the looks of it. Most places that have quotes me simply apply the pre mapped flash software and do a before and after on the dyno.

What's the cost for this then? I could probably drive down and up in a day to be honest

Could be because none member.

Good luck whichever way you go. Will allways recommend efi to others.
