225 bhp B20 ek9 conversion

  Jap Shed
just completed a b20 engine swap into my ek9, for those that are interested the normal output of the b16b in the normal ek9 is 182hp and 110lbft odd from 1.6l - very impressive. I got some bolt ons and a gucci standalone ECU -

Nice, why the B20 and not k20 though? B20 not a bit of an epic to do?

not too bad seeing as we dont have 100 octane fuel here, enough for a 1:51 around cadwell on oem suspention anyway!

so i decided to look for somthing else engine wise , decided on a b18, an integra engine. But along came a mate who imports ek9s and had a ek9 with a b20 engine. This is basically a Honda CRV bottom end with a ek9/DC2 head giving good TQ and power. so yesterday i went up to reading to gat my hands dirty!

the b20 had Toda bits (best of the best in terms of quality) and had an invoice for £6300 from japan, this was for the engine and running gear.

It also has an ATS lsd which is a total beast. £1.1k alone!

i like the sound of this conversion, can i do this with my b16a jdm engine i currently have in my mini?
is it just the case of changinging the bottom end over?
if so what car does the b20 come out of

I don't think so, from the little I know about Hondas I know the b20 bottom end will not like vtec and 8500rpm so things have to be done to it to make it hold. I think...........

This is a super reliable conversion if done right, you can't really rev over 8.5k with the b20 bottom end. Saying that the chap who runs the company that leads the way with the b20 conversions in uk, said he takes them over 8.5 a lot and not had a problem.

Comes from the CRV!! Still makes me laugh that!

Everyone goes on about k20 conversions but they involve cutting the tranny tunnel and cost a bomb. For example the mounts alone are £600 odd quid!

Frankenstein conversions are awesome.

The B18C masquerades as a B16B really, it's a shortened stroke B18C.

B20 block swap is much much easier than a K swap, all the mounts are an exact swap IIRC.
