867 Days ago I did this...

To say I was gutted is an understatement. I’m just glad that no injuries were sustained.
This is how it looked when I bought it:

Unfortunately I only had TPFT cover and so stripping the car for parts was the only sensible thing to do:

This left me with a bare shell that eventually the local scrap man took away after I had made sure it couldn’t go back on the road.

While selling the engine/gearbox for £50 I was invited to a track day and told that if I could get myself there, there would be a few passenger rides for me.
After a couple of months Oulton park cropped it’s head up as a Renault Sport Track day so I took the day off work and got myself up there.

It was a great day and even managed to get Burp to take me out for a couple of laps. It was during this day that I decided I would have another 172 and over time turn it into a track day car to have alongside a company car/daily drive once I finish my apprenticeship.
Today, I have achieved my ambition; I am once again the owner of a Ph1 172. But this time in black and with the alloy bonnet and shift light.
It wasn’t an easy process, and was the tenth car I’d looked at in the space of 3 months but was by far the best for the money.
This is how she looked in the adverts:

And after meeting up and giving it a good going over I had the painful task of letting my dad drive it home for me and putting it in the garage for 7 weeks before I could start a new insurance policy.
During these seven weeks I was able to carry out some minor works to it such as removing the splitter, swapping the rear lights back over and a few other bits and pieces.
This is how she looks today:

Apologies for the long post; and I’m not looking for sympathy: I was a tw*t, I know that. This is just a long winded introduction to my new car and the project thread that I’m going to start (Will add a link to it when I’ve put it up).

Comments and criticisms welcome.

That looks really tidy and you've certainly improved it! I'm just not sure on the splitter, would maybe have gone for a fabia one.

I wanted something more than just a plain splitter so went with the cupra one. If I get bored it's no hardship to change it over.

Cheers for the comments so far.
