Advice needed. Change belts/dephaser or swap engine

Not long ago I bought a 51 plate 172 on 107k. The belts arnt due for another 7k and the engine has been looked after according to receipts but the dephaser is quite loud so I'd rather get it sorted.
The question is I'm looking at spending a grand tops what would people recommend just change the belts / dephaser or go for an engine with a little more poke. I'm not looking for a conversation of any kind. Any advice would be appreciated.

Belt and cams can be had for that sort of money.

Just do the belts and pulley. You wouldn't change a light cluster if all you needed was a bulb would you.

I agree maybe I'm just looking for an excuse to blow money I was just undecided on what to do

For belts and dephaser, £610 all in from myself. or if you want brand new cams, and a map to suit its £1600.
