Monaco RS Clio 172

I am looking for a decent air filter/intake system for my clio 172 (ph2).
I have heard about vipers and k&n, basically I would like to know which is best really for decent performance and lovely sound effects.
I actually attached a cone one of my friends had to it for about 5 minutes and the noise was incredible, but I took it off again because it will do nothing but harm I'm guessing.
it was a budget halfrauds POS.
anyone any experience with this?

I am not expecting massive increases in performance, but I don't want it making things worse.
I understand a decent cold air feed is key and wondered if anyone had any decent pics I could get an idea from?
I'm new to all this so thanks for any help in advance

the price is so low I can see 17yr olds being tempted but this one is for a 172 specifically! surely this is a wrongen?!
