Allow me to introduce myself.....

Hi,

My GF and I are regular Nurburgring visitors and have been there in my MY01 WRX and more lately in my Porsche 944 Turbo, although last weekend we made a very quick visit in my GFs MY00 Astra Sri.

On the return drive my GF said that she wanted a faster car for herself to drive at the ring. So yesterday we did a deal over the phone and put a deposit down on a pre registered Clio Cup with climate at Renault Solihull. We are due to collect her on Saturday. Havent sen it, but I guess it looks like all the others.

As soon as we can get a few 1000 miles on the clock we will do a trip to the ring (maybe in June or July), and let you know how we get on. I dont plan to do any mods, maybe some road legal slicks on a spare set of rims.

After reading the site I get the impression we will be the more mature owners at 32 years old.

Feel free to have a butchers at my car and ring related website.

Hi Dave, welcome to the nut-house. Plenty of people in their 30s on here - very few of them mature though...

Tells you everything you would want to know about the place.

As long as you know and appreciate the risks involved, you will have a good time. Thinking you are going to be the next Uwe Altzen and it will end in tears.

I have been on the ring a couple of times last year with 25 cars it was superb ... one of the cars wrote his car off though and had to leave it there  and had to pay damages made to the barrier and grass .... be careful!!! its not how you drive its the motorbikes and other looneys that cut you up..

By the way i am 29 ;)

mature owners ? methinks you are mistaken, old maybe but no-one here is mature ;) welcome to the club :D

I know this is going to sound stupid but has anone taken a nornal CLio to the ring . Im thinking of going to see my mate who has moved over there in June/July but flying there the easy boring option (plus I have a historyty of missing flight and it costing me). I fancy doing the ring but is it stupid taking a car (probably stock) round it?

And where abouts is it on a map? I cannot find it at all? Im sure my mate lives 20 miles south from Frankfurt but here that in relation to the ring?

Thanks

Yes there were normal Clios with us when we went last year! Everything goes around the ring, cars, bikes, and last year there was a coach full of tourists - I timed his lap at 25 minutes!

The Nurburgring is in the Eiffel mountains, route from Calais <A target=_blank href= "http://www.viamichelin.com/viamichelin/gbr/dyn/controller/ItiWGPerformPage;jsessionid=00002SO4INGKKWTYLJXZCCDX35A+v0gel69d?E_wg=210504113iS704112085929252325ITIWG5l10133gbr0059103n101a101114100x11090000014240008Q2FsYWlz000011000122410111y101r11090000002400000000fbnVyYnVyZ3Jpbmc100n1b08REP241316SERREP1110013010010072004112039.004-1.00110001001001001001001003gbr011&stat=ambiguous_iti&strStartChoice=1here.

There are lots of Normal cars that go on there, just to experience the track, if you get there early enough about 9 you get to go around the ring near enough empty.. believe me to its near enough a blind track ...the later you get there the busiest it gets ... when i was there last time a masarati got smashed up and he was all the way from GB .. just make sure your careful, i think you get about 5 gos for about 30 euros ... we are going back in the summer yayyyyyy

If you are thinking of visiting the ring you might want to have a look at these sites. Chat with peole who have been there and try to get together with a regular as it is a daunting circuit for the novice.

There is literally no run-off, many blind corners and it is very easy to get in trouble, as one ClioSport member found out last Easter.
