Alloy Wheels Query!

I have a mk1 clio 16v..! I know the recommended offset for alloys is 42.

I was wondering if the likes of Vauxhall & Vw would fit & what difference would it make?

Which Clio tho? The Mk2 Clio is different to the Mk1!

the offsets are different from the mk1 to mk2/3
