Aluminium pipe disconnected

Hi Gents, just recently bought myself a 172. Theres a aluminium pipe on the left hand side of the engine that seemingly connects to the engine, but i cant see where it fits........ The car runs fine on highway, just abit of jerking at 2k to 2.5krmp but that will be sorted out soon. Does anyone know where this pipe goes? A/C pipe maybe?

If it's two silver pipes on the left of the bay as you look in, they're the AC pipes.
Do they have little black valves on the top of them?
