Another ticky 182

  Clio 182
Just wondering if anybody knows what this ticking could be.
The cars just had the belts done and dephaser.
The ticking gets louder when you Rev it too.
I think the noise is coming from the injectors but I can't be sure.

Thanks :)

Mine does exact same but on a 172, been under it today fitting a front splitter and general tidying. Mine sounds like it's coming from the 4-1 manifold which really baffles me. None of my other 182's or Trophy did it so I know it's something but what, no idea.

Unplug an injector at a time. If the sound gets worse you know that injector is working but if you unplug one and it stays the same you've found the faulty injector

I hope for your sake it is an injector. It does sound rather sewing machine like which could be the valves clipping the pistons although it does tend to be alot louder than the video. Where did you get the cambelt done? Was the noise present before?

A simple retime may sort it.

Thanks for all you replies :) when I first went to look at the car I don't remember it ticking. But when I fetched it I noticed it. The bloke that sold me the car did the belts ect

For the sake of a few quid I'd get the timing checked at your local specialist.

Just thought i would let you guys know... i had the timing checked a while ago and it out massively! So much in fact we thought it was quite possible the pistons were clipping the valves... so i arranged to have the head off and new valves ect ect. I also took advantage of the situation and got hold of a pair of 438 cams.
So the car went in for the work but we quickly found out the ticking was actually down to 1 cylinder being down on conpression quite a lot! After some thought i decided it would be cheaper to get a replacement engine which i will be collecting tomorrow and getting fitted in the next few weeks.
Good times! On the plus side im looking forward to finally getting the cams fitted.
Sorry its taken months to post!
