Battery meter wrong

Has anyone had the battery meter and percentage showing wrongly on iPhone 4?
My phone went flat last night twice when showing 43%. Two minutes charging and up to 44% then cuts out again at 43%.
Today it is fully charged and showing 100% even after 5 hours use!!!
Something not right.
Anyone know of any fixes?

Will do that when I get home but still at work for 4 weeks yet. Have you heard of this before Tom??

Nope, have you tried cycling the battery meter on and off?

I've had it before, not from 43% sometimes when it gets to 20% it just dies. I restored it and its normal again now.

Tried a restore and it took 2 hours. Still the same though.

How old is it? Possibly just the battery is all cycled out and it needs a new one.
