Bores scored... Is this block dead?

  Transit & Death trap
Hi,
Just wanted to see whether this block is worth saving or just binning?
Also thoughts on the crank please... Is it Knackered?
Thanks

Bores look dead. Could possibly be rehired requiring larger pistons.

crank looks salvageable though

Thought as much, think I'll strip the rest down and see if the cranks worth saving then.
I wasn't expecting to find scores in the bore tbh, thought the crank would be a goner and not the other way round.
Thanks

I've got a scrap engine in my shed you can pillage for spares if interested mate. Know you're only local.

I can strip it this week to check condition if you want..

Thanks mate, appreciate the offer but this was just a lump from a 182 I was breaking and not an ongoing project/build, so I'll probably just wack it on ebay as spares repairs.
I had kind of hoped I'd be able to hang onto the bottom end for a potential future project, as it was only on 57k, but I'm not really in a position to be taking on a full blown build :(.
Thanks again though.

What happened, was the swarf from a bearing going?

The previous owner took the car in for a suspected noisy dephaser and severe cam journal damage was found.
It's down to a poorly/incorrectly fitted dephaser seal, which has been leaking oil, as for the bore damage though I assume that's due to lack of oil getting to the bore and the rings maybe overheating and causing the deep scores, but I'm no expert regarding engine internals/working so any suggestions are welcomed.
But all 4 of the bores are scored, although no.1 is the worst.

Here's a link to the engine pics taken by the mechanic:

Looks like its had more than a belt change the rocker covers been off at some point too , what are the sides of the pistons like? Are all the bores the same

The bores are nearly all the same, but no.1 has deeper scores than the rest.
I've not had a chance to check the pistons yet, but I'll get everything stripped down and takes some pictures.
I've got all the service details for the car and it shows it had a belt and tensioner change at 37,356 miles (09/10), not sure if that's when the dodgy seal was fitted?
What makes you think the rocker covers been off, is it the amount of sealant residue that's around the sealing faces of the cover?
