ukaskew I know what you mean, my mates loves it purely for the pictures I take before we go out alone. Also on the flash (SB 400), just had a look and you'll be kicking yourself if you don't buy something that can swivel and be bounced!

what's your opinion of that lens? I'm thinking of getting one myself for my landscape work.

Not sure yet, it's being delivered tomorrow...

I researched for weeks though and it came out well on top for me. The Nikon 12-24 is only ever so slightly better apparently, but then it's also well over double the price!

Thanks for the links, some great pics on the flickr site. I came to the same conclusion, performance seems similar, price is a lot less and I'd rather have the facility to have 10-12 zoom than 20-24... I might have a visit to Kea Photo later

Yeah you want a SB600 or SB800, you know it makes sense! Last time I looked Microglobe had the best prices for the SB600, around £160 IIRC.

Yep done my research now and the 600 looks the more appropriate contender.

Saying that about my 10-20, just been delayed by 2 weeks now as there are shortages of the Nikon fitment! Tried two other stores and got the same answer, loads of Canon about though.

On board flash is never going to be a great, the pro SLR models don't even bother having it. A powerful flash that you can bounce and swivel opens a whole new world! But I'd wait a while from getting into the SLR world before upgrading the flash...
