Cambelt price

Hi all,

i have a clio sport 172 cup. right its cambelt time and have rang round for quotes

cheapest ive had with vat all in is £530.

Renault quoted me £431 when i went back to take them up on the offer they said they had got it wrong and the sport model is £609 even though they would of been able to see this as they took my reg in the first place.

They knocked it down to £570 because i had been told wrong.

Still unsure who to book with what prices should i be paying for this guys?

any help much appreciated

Go to a specialist of here, to many horror stories from random gargaes doing it (inluciding Renault)

i did laugh when one of the Renault garages wanted to charge £695!

so who do you recommend and whos closest to me here in Leicester.

Just the belt, not the kit? Is the aux belt needed too?

lol - we had a cup in for some work the other day that had just had its cambelt/aux belt done. He'd been charged for a full aux belt setup / tensioner! Not being mechanically minded he hadn't thought twice about it. B@stards.

Yes i wonder if this is where im getting over charged, they have said to me i need the cambelt kit and pre tensioners?

i do need the aux belt doing and the cambelt to be honest but im not very mechanically minded which is what these garages pray on i guess

it's a cup so there is no aux kit, just a belt. Cambelt kit should always be done (is when i do it)

I thought it was about £500-700 from Renault (still can't believe how much difference from one dealer to the other there is) for cars with aircon. The Cup should be less...

tbh i have heard only but good things about sidwaysdanny and jms so i would go with one of them as i dont know much about cgcars but they are in Leicester
