Im after a new camera - would love an slr but cant afford one really!

Have you looked at the Panasonic FZ range?

FZ5 and FZ7 similar to the cameras you;ve seen above, constantly highly rated in reviews.

kodak is a very good cammra i sell camras for a living....i would try the olympus sp500 good pics but takes a xd memoy card which are more expensive than the sd which your kodak will take..

I'm sure either would be good, also look at the Canon S3 IS or Panasonic Lumix FZ5 if you can stretch a little more.

Looking at the spec of the Fuji, the only annoying thing would be AA batteries...
