Canon 1000D Accessories

  O4 Dynamique
Ok guys,

Im getting a Canon 1000D but also want to get some extras to go with it. E.g. Battery Grip.

Can some of you please recommend me some other accessories to get with it.

I wouldn't say Im a total amature but Im no expert.

Cheers in advance.

Thing is, Ive already got a Nikon F75 SLR, so am quite tempted to stick with Nikon as I know them a little bit more than Canon.. HELP!

Well, its Canon latest entry level camera but its just a revamped 350D/400D with a mixture of bits from both. Be better off spending a few more pounds on a 400D or getting it from the right place for less, only thing the 1000D has over it is live view.

Then if you go second hand the 30D is a hell of a lot more camera. Best thing is to goto a store and hold the 1000D, 450D and 40D to gauge what is going to feel better to work with.

Can pick up the D60 with 18-55 VR lens for £325 - 350 then :) Be getting one myself soon.

good shout. theres a good bundle deal where you can get a D40 with a 18-55 VR Lens, a 4GB Memory Card, a Bag and a mini tripod.

Kelkoo.co.uk is your friend.

Lol never thought of that.. accessories don't look that good tbh either. They're a local company so might go in for a peek anyway.

If they won't price match I'll just go and get in from Jessops :)

Thats a nice price for the D60 and I'm sure its a pretty nice piece of kit but just to confuse things and give some more options I'd still rather spend my money on older better technology...

Unless you have babys hands the D80 or Canon 30D should feel much better to use along with all the other features you get.. (30D: 5fps, spot metering, 9 point Auto Focus, ISO 3200, 1 custom mode, auto focus that works with more lenses etc etc.)

Official Canon refurb, could finish at an amazing price:

My best advice is to go try them all and get the one you feel happy with! We all like different cameras so go try before you buy!

Can't pinpoint why it is but I have a niggling feeling that I should be buying a Canon.. spent so long looking at Nikon that I'm not sure about the intricacies of the brand though!

Has there ever been a pole about who has bought into which brand?

Don't think there has... I think there are more Nikon owners, but its a close thing!!!!

Nothing wrong with either brand!!!

No but they are both market leaders, think Canon is bigger although its lost a lot of ground recently with Nikon catching up in the digital world. I'd say its pretty split on here, although there are lot of Nikon owners as the entry level Nikon gear is great value for money.

As said go to a store, borrow a mates or something and see what suits you better. Look at future lenses you may buy, will they work on the D40/D60 etc.

If that 30D refurb goes for sub 300 notes it'll be a steal, as new with a 1 year warranty for semi-pro gear. It just needs a better lens on it but you can get by with the kit lens.
