Car temperature...??

The radio display screen is showing temperatures up to 55C, only had the car a month or so, is this a common problem? Dont really know where to start with this problem, any ideas?

It's the little black rubber nipple on the n/s wing mirror. you can get them for about £10 on ebay, pop mirror off, replace.
