clio 172 problem :(

hi well i have had a clio 172 for 3 days now and have found it holds back when putting the boot down can happen any place on the revs wondered if anyone could shine any light on this

Do you know if it has the correct plugs in it? Whip it off and have a look. They may need replacing.

A good service with new filters can usually help. Failing that, might be a coil pack or lead breaking down, so best to check the cheaper options first

whats the best plugs for the clio 172 would you know :) as last month it had a full service with all belts and stuff done by prev owner *but lets not get into what hes done with the car*... aha and yeh a HUGE pain in the behind

Whhooooaaaaa, now we are getting into big money territory. Did HE do the belts, or have them done somewhere?

Best plugs are NGK PFR6E-10. Standard leads are fine as long as they arent torn/worn.

garage done it all to cost of nearlly £600 and ill be ordering me some of them plugs and leads if i was to upgrade them what would be my best choice?

when i say about what hes done is cut rear springs, bodged to high hevens exhaust and then there is the inner cv boot general wear there like and found out he put a side hander MOT on it last year =/

The correct tools from Renault cost about £120 ish when i bought mine.

There are enough specialist on here that will be able to help you out mate.

might take it back to rstuning 2 moz see what they think to it the car itself was a swap for my 04 corsa van which i payed like £400 for so thats what this car stands me at looking at it like that just abit peeed off he didnt tell me anything that was needed or what he had done be right

i couldnt tell you aha!! if there is anyone around leeds that would know by looking at it would be great :D

RS Tuning is a Trader on here or RS Murray (Paul at RS Tunings dad) both in Leeds and know these cars well. They will look after you and use the correct timing tools etc

Just because its not been done by a "specialist" doesnt mean the timing is out. For the price of a few cam caps, you can check it yourself, its easily done.

Get the inlet off and check the plugs before ordering any though.

Failing that, take it somewhere reputable (if you arent confident with spanners) and get a full srrvice. That should be oil filter, oil change (5w40), air filter, cabin filter and spark plugs.

yeh i hope its all done right i thought if it was if timing was out would rip engine apart :eek: but i am new to clio's always owned vauxhalls dont know my way round these engines *yet*

and yeh i was thinking another service would be key so i know whats in there and am guessing 5w40 is best to be run in there?

I was saying the timing would be out because they may not have used the correct timing tools!! not because of who did it.
