has any one also got hints and tips to gaining access to get the belts off/on. that was the sticky bit.. it dosen't give to much info in the manual.

Cheers

Jack the engine up and down once you've removed the suspended engine mounting.

Buy smaller tools/hands. It's a pig.

With the aux belt you can take the top bolt off the alternator and loosen the other ones so it can pivot down and give you a bit more slack than de-tensioning the tensioner alone. Careful you don't crush the air pipe that runs under the alternator though.

Your mechanic wants to know how to gain access to the belts and your letting him do a cambelt job on your 172? Brave
