decat to manifold fitting question (172)

So my old springs and bolts were rusting away and rattling so I decided to change them last night. My question is, should any of the steel gasket be showing between the manifold and the decat? I have about half an inch or an inch of gasket showing between the two although I tightened it up as best as I could.

i believe the gasket is called the fire ring or so and you should be able to see it so that the engine can move

not 100% though

Ahh ok, thought it might not tighten up all the way but wasnt sure. Makes sense to allow for movement though, cheers!
