The designer of the laptop, Bill Moggridge, has died aged 69, leaving behind one of the most dramatic changes in the computing landscape.
The British designer came up with the Grid Compass in 1979 for the US military, making computers portable by having the screen fold over the keyboard, a revolutionary idea at the time and one that we now take somewhat for granted.
