Do you ever get comments on your car?

  Too Many
Had a couple of comments on the Clio from some people , Mainly older gents.
Had a load of comments regarding the Vectra Supertouring and i now can't take the escort out without someone asking a question.
Even had a guy offer me a swap with his BMW at the garage while his wife was sitting in the passenger seat as he had bought one years ago and missed it.

"why do you keep an old clio in the garage, take it out, wash it and put it back in?"
"thought you were into cars? if so why do you drive that old thing?" - becoz DCI!

Just get guys a lot younger than me staring at it with lust. You know the type. Officer worker. Geek. Sort of guy that drives a Volvo estate even though he's 23 max!

Oh and I overheard some young lads walking past it one night say "That car is just a chav with an engine"

Then he walked past my bushes saw me and then started saying how he would love one though and that he couldnt even drive!

The only people that try racing it so far have been 225 Megane's (they failed) and middle age men in those horrible mercedes slk things? You know the ones those crappy slow two door mid 2000's rear drive mercs? Think they are called slk's?

First week of ownership someone commented on the ST's 'amazing' colour. Then it went quiet for 29,000 miles until a few weeks back when I got accosted in a Shell garage by a copper.

Kept me stood about chatting for a good five minutes until is oppo told him to get going.

I've had two people chat to me about the car. Both wanted to know what it was mainly. Gets more attention than my ST did.

I get a lot in the V6, mostly good to be honest as people just don't know what they are. Not had any bodykit comments yet though but then again it doesn't see daylight too often.

My cup has had loads of attention over the years.
Highlights include:
Being pulled by the police at 3am for doing 70 in a 50 then both officers telling me how much they loved the car. No ticket just a be careful.
2 guys hanging out of a car giving the thumbs up on the m25 doung 70.
When i brought the skoda for the misses 3 of the sales men where out there checking out the cup. All loved it.
My lass cant work out how my shitty clio gets so many comments. She wont even go in it.

Never had any in the dci unless I'm specifically taking about my car and then it goes "it is really a diesel"

The 182 got "you need to get those brakes checked out mate" when it had rc5+

We should all admit no one takes a second look at any clios bar the v6

Got none in the 172 cup / Cupra or 197. Got a few looks in the R26. Get a fair few positive comments and looks on / in the Z4.

I strongly disagree mate! It's the twin exhausts I think that gets people looking as they wonder why a clio has them! First thing my neighbour said when I brought my car home was if it was standard like that.
Have to agree, I could be wrong, but is it possible that 182 get noticed more because of their dual exhaust wheras the 172 just looks like a normal clio as such... again I could be wrong, just a thought

In the clio i only got comments from people who knew their stuff. In the megane i get weird comments from all kinds of people that dont know their arse from their elbow in regards to cars. Its mainly about the colour though.

Some bizarre ones too. Like a guy being dead serious in a petrol station told me recently "You wont be able to own that when you have kids". Eh why?

I always assume that when people see my 182, they think I'm a tit for spending so much on modifying a 1.2 Clio. If you didn't know the RS Clio range existed, which is probably true for a lot of the population, that is what you'd think no? Why has that tit carved two bits out of his bumper to have a twin exhaust?

Not this car only had it three weeks but my old leon turbo it was how low thats stupid and is that a fake turbo sound lol

lol! Not a clio but i get plenty in the polo

'nice golf mate'
'needs a polish that does' (its satin)
'why's it so low'
'Why's it so noisy'
'why dont you get a new car'
'why do you spend all ur money on that'
'that a vr6'
'i had a turbo one of those'

I'm happy i should get a lot less in a clio haha!

Most people seem to know its a 172. People have slated me for my car choices in the past but I have always picked the best drivers cars of the time for the least amount of money. Take the Clio for example. Im sure I could keep with the nre Fiesta ST if I was to get a chance but I paid £1700 for my car not £17000!! All the other cars of the Clios era and type are either waaaaay more expensive (corsa vxr) or just plain not as good (corsa vxr)

"My mate had one of those but he stuck a skyline engine in it"

This was when I had my punto GT turbo.

Back when I had my mk1 fiesta a random bloke knocked on my door asking about it.
A guy commented on how tidy the impreza was the other day as I was changing the front headlights

You've spent how much on a ten year old clio!

I feel your pain!

"How much have you spent on it already!?"
"Don't you think you've spent enough on it?"
"I can't believe you've put £9,000 into a £3,000 Clio!"
"You're never going to make back all the money you've spent on that!"

Bore off! It's fairly uncommon, thoroughly good fun and not about financial gains. It's the passion and thrill factor that drove me to invest so much in it!

I don't get bad things said tbh, if they ask how much money I just say I change items for motorsport ones when they break.

Most people just say that it's pretty loud or "sounds pretty good what engines in that" lol

Best one I did have was literally the day I bought my Renault 5 GT Turbo on my drive home I was followed for the last few minutes by Police... get out the car and the copper asks if he can buy it off me :tongueout: I was like not yet, I've only owned it a few hours!

Often get comments about the colour. Got stopped in the street at the shops the other day by a lovely elderly lady, she loved it.:)
