driveshaft???

  A4 DTM/iceberg cup
recently had a strange click/chatter sound start from the passsenger footwell area of my 172 cup on 43k. only really happens just as i apply load to pull off or if i have it in second i can just ease on the accelerator to do it more frequently.

doesnt seem to have any play in the wheel itself and the cv boot is not split. i have heard that the shafts are a weakness.

i've already done a search but got to page 10 and couldnt find what i was looking for so here goes.

1. how can you check if a driveshaft has had it? any checks you can do

2. could it be anything to do with the bearings etc etc instead?

3. any other possibilities? (not intrested in gearbox horror stories. i know the score)

any info appreciated.

Mine made a similar noise and turned out to be a cracked gearbox mount so worth checking if yours is worn/damaged
