engine bay painting the lazy way

has anyone painted their engine parts whilst theyre still in place?

id be removing the top inlet and fuel rail cover, its just bits like rocker cover etc that are a ball ache....

so i ask.. has anyone painted theirs without removing it?

if so how? what was removed and what was left in place? what prep did you do ? bearing in mind what around it etc
