Engine Rebuild

Guys
How much would you be looking at to get a motor rebuilt as new to standard spec ?

Nothing updated, just take an old motor and rebuild back up with all new parts by one of the reputable specialists

Depends entirely on what you need replacing. What's up with your current motor?

I had mine done about 6 weeks ago...its not only what you need doing but highly consider where as some "specialists" arnt as good as they seem, price wise anywhere from £650-£900 thats from the block up..if its new parts then goes up to about £1200 vlaves etc..

What did that include though?

Admittedly I did upgrade to Supertech valves at the same time though, which were £300 on top. But not necessary.

Full removal, strip down, inspection, chemical clean and tidy up, then some mild head work and rebuilt with new valves, seats, bearings, gaskets, bolts, belt kits etc.

Check my thread for photos

Cheers Guys,

Interesting and thanks for the link.

Was just thinking that when you have to pay retail money for labour for repairs it doesn't take many running repairs on a used motor and you're almost better just getting a fresh build with new ancillaries.

I've got a squealy PAS pump and to buy the pump, labour and new aux belt kit will be about £400. No issue with that pricing but the following week the water pump could let go or the alternator etc, etc and you're in for a load more labour etc.

If for approx £1200 (plus the cost of a brand new, alternator and PAS pump) you can put together an as new factory motor, then in theory and with lady luck you should have nothing but a couple of oil changes until 36k for the first aux belt swap.
