exhaust info pls

  clio 172
hello i have a long life cat back exhaust i have heard that if i put a de-cat pipe on there in a good chance i will get a flat spot in the rev range?? is this true ? and the only way around it is to get a re map? is this true? thanks

My phase 1 172 got a nasty flat spot at about 4-4.5k rpm. Decat's are not really worth it performance wise on a n/a engine, you see really benefits on a turbo engine. For the sake of switching over at mot, cost of a remap to sort flat spot out and the cost of the decat, I personally would put all that time and money towards suspensions mods for the clio such as a whiteline arb etc etc.

not point chasing big bhp in the rs clio range, unless your spend mega ££££ much better spending it on handling and braking. All in my opinion of course

thanks i was going to get 1 but as you say for the money and small amount of extra BHP is abit pointless..prob go poly-bush kit and lowering kit thanks fellas :D
