flywheel

Hi,
Is a Renault 19 flywheel the same as a clio flywheel(the 19 flywheel is from a 1.8 16v?
My flywheel got chewed up and i've swapped it over for the 19 flywheel but still got a clio starter motor and its making a grating noise.
Should i try a 19 starter or could there be another reason?

same as a clio of the same age..

not the same as 172

Its a clio 1.8 16v 92. not don't know the age of the 19 engine.
what you think the grating noise is?
should i try a 19 starter motor?
Like you say though, can't imagine there being a difference in the amount of teeth.

could be a slightly mis-aligned starter

You checked that the cog on the starter motors not been mangled?

well tried a brand new one from renault but same problem, so different flywheel and a different starter motor

is there a chance that my bottom end bearing has gone and its throwing my flywheel about? it feels fine to drive though
