yes. fact is that sport box is better..... plus doing it now says doing it at the conversion.

so whtas there to understand. im asking about what all i can change that would be worth while. other than lsd

  Evo
ClioSports dont have a limited slip diff as standard.

Other than that the ratios will be wrong for your engine, it'll still have to played round with come conversion time and im sure you need a new subframe for either the RS block or box...

Wouldnt bother mate, save it for the conversion.

im changing to a lsd.

front subframe getting changed this week for the wide track, plus boxes are the same just different insides.

all im asking for is what can be done to improve it

Change the ratios, if your fitting a 1*2 box, or you'll struggle to hit 100mph and you'll never be off the clutch pedal.

1*2 box gives roughly 20mph per 1000rpm

In a diesel that would be pretty poor.

Other than an lsd, that's it, as the other option is close ratio gears.

This would lower the top speed even more and add even more frequent gear changes.

+1 70mph is just over 3k where as 3K on the dci box is over 80mph closer to 90 iirc.

  Astra GSI, 172, Golf
diesel and petrol gear box's are very different , diesels have longer gear ratio's ans they have more torque to pull through the gear .
were as petrols have shorter ratio's but rev higher to make up for it
depending on what the purpose of the car was you could use your dci box to attain i higher top end speed with a 1*2 engine fitted .

  53 Clio's & counting
as long as its in good nick, id chuck an lsd in it job done, as long as you look after the box it will last

AFAIK

DCI80 uses a JC5-128 box has ratios around:
3.73/2.04/1.32/0.97/0.76 final drive 3.29

172 with a JC5-129 box has ratios:
3.08/1.86/1.32/1.03/0.8 final drive 4.07

Advertised rpm at 100mph
172 = 4,800
DCI80 = 3,700
