Help, my car won't start :(

Jumped in it and did the normal routine. Lights on and turn the key but I'd left it in gear, my bad.

So into neutral, turn the key. Nothing. The warning lights come on as per, but it won't turn over. Just makes a clicking sound

does this sound like the battery or possibly immobiliser? The lights dim after trying it a few times. I know the battery is fairly old so I'm hoping its just that.

Sounds like either the starter has jammed, or flat battery

Im going to say flat battery or near dead battery. If its old then pointless recharging just buy a new 1.

Could have buggered the starter motor or stripped the cogs.

Update! Martyn-172 was bang on. Battery died so whacked in a new one. Happy days!
