HELP !! What colour lead is the speedo signal into the dash dials?

  BG 182 FF
As above (any pics would be great) need to know speed signal colour that goes into the back of the dials in clio 182!

I know it feeds from the abs so I'm not on about te speedo cable found on the 172 cup or ph1 !!

Cheers

Its not a specific wire but CAN I'm afraid so a white/purple twisted pair

So it's 2 wires ? My intentions are to splice a speedo healer into the cable so I can adjust the speed to a correct value as mines currently way out due to wheel modifications.

would it be possible to join the 2 wires together going into the speedo healer and then from the output of the device split the single cable back into 2 wire ? ( the device basically adjusts the signal to the speedo that comes from the abs system, so all adjustments are done without affecting the abs unit or any other wiring in the car)

I would seriously advise you don't try that because that twisted pair is your primary CAN Bus

If you're considering splicing some pikey contraption into those you really should do some homework so you understand the basic principles of how CAN Bus works before you stop your car from starting... possibly permanently.

Why exactly do you need this device? (What wheel "mods" have you done)

Due to change in size and a already innacurate speedo, it's not a untried eBay job it's a widely used kit car and bike speedo calibration adjustment tool used by a friend of mine who has had nothing but success with the device on his project so pikey is a little harsh ;) but I do really appreciate your advise hence the question ! the speedo is currently 20% out at 50mph and this only grows ....... Any other suggestions would be great though for example re calibration using another method! I've done quite a bit of research into the devise and have been speaking to there technical engineers who are going to look into my requirements this week coming.... Just wanted to seek advise from the forum !

Thank you for your continued help !! Any suggestions more than welcome :)!!! (Infant more than welcome as I don't fancy splicing unless I have to !)

LoLz Its pikey! Its nothing new and takes a SWF then changes it to lie to another output component but your problem isn't in the device itself but in what you're wanting to do with it on a Clio Sport. I'm sure kit car owners have great sucess with these but they don't tend to have CAN Bus infrastructure so its irrelevant.

The Clockset is one of many linked pieces of hardware which takes all input signals via CAN Bus (vehicle speed, engine speed, warning lights, signals, fault warning, multifunction display, etc) which it uses to display an output. There are loads of other signals running down these lines at the sametime to (ABS, SRS, ECM, HVAC) so as your pikey bit of kit is analogue it won't be able to see the digital speed signal to be able to manipulate it. Then as you'd be breaking into the primary line you will unbalance the network meaning it will fail so nothing will work.

Why don't you just do the job properly (two ways spring to mind atm):

1 - recalibrate the X65's UCH with the correct rolling radius value which makes the speedo read right.

2 - run a dedicated speedometer via a custom trigger (non ABS) and ditch the standard cluster.

Why are you modding the rolling radius anyway?

The rolling radius from a 195/45/15 compared to a 205/45/16 tyre means that it causes a 5.8% difference to the calibration, the speedo is therefore a fair way out considering when checked before the wheel change it was around 12-13% out on standard setup....

hence the reason for wanting to fix it ;)!

The info your coming up with is extremely helpful! Is there any way to have the abs re calibrated to accept a 15" with 45 profile as its default ? for example the tec2 system on Gm cars allows you to select different wheel sizes ....

Again thanks !

Yes, CLIP can do this but why are you running a 195/45/15 when a 195/50/15 will bring you to well within tollerence of a 205/45/16?

Sorry to keep asking this but I don't understand why you've opted to run a smaller tyre knowing it would do this to your speedometer.

I'm running a 45 profile as its a 8j rim and a 50 sidewall is too soft to run a 195, a 205 is too large for the arches and so unsuitable also !! clip can re calibrate it then ? Is this a renault main dealer job ?

Cheers again
