how do i tell what mark my clio is?

i have a 2003 clio 1.2 and i often see parts for sale on ebay saying suitable for mk1 mk2 mk3 and such and such but how do i know what mk mine is? my mate says 3 then he says 2 then he says maybe 4 and i just dont know

I'm been told by a 'Renault specialist' before that there are 7 marks and was trying to tell me a Mk1 Ph3 was a Mk4.

He was really adermit he was right so I couldn't be fucked to argue

Mk3 (182 shape)
MkIII (197 shape)

But every forum uses the same as we do on here.

If it's a 2003 model then it's a Mk2 Phase 2 (the phase 2 refers to the face lift ie the front lights being noticeably different from the outside and the change in the dashboard on the interior being the major changes) the shell is basically the same for the phase 1 and phase 2 to put into their sport versions:

Clio Williams - Mk1
172 - Mk 2 Phase 1
182 - Mk 2 Phase 2
197 - Mk 3

The 172 also came in the phase 2 style (hidden exhaust) but the above is just to show major differences......... although someone on here will probably disagree.

Lol, I would question someone that uses '3' and 'III' as different marks!

Around specialists and Renault bods I've always used Mk2 Ph1 & Ph2 ans they've always known what I've meant. I've sometimes referred to the phase 2 as the Mk2 'facelift' also.

whenever u plug clios on clip its says for the sad eye shape, mk2 ph1, then the newer shape 2001 onwards mk2 ph2, same wit diag

basically it's a mk2 phase 2, and on most websites it'll say "to fit clios from 01 > 05".
