HUGE gathering for a good cause...who's coming???

  RB 182 FF
Please see the above. Its in Huddersfield 1pm on Saturday 8th September.

The lad has v.little time left, lets do what we can to make this young lad's day. :approve:

Let's do it! The more the Merrier hey! :D

It also has a facebook page. They're gonna need a bigger car park... 'Cause there's over 200 on Facebook alone and not everyone is checking in there. It will be an interesting day!

Like you said though fella, the more the merrier!

I'd love to come but as said in one of the other thread I can't make it :(

I hope there's a tonne of awesome cars there and that it does make his day, it's a sad story and good to see people joining together to do it!

I think I can go, as long as you fast clio boys don't razz off and leave me and the diesel behind haha - you know how I am with navigating...

Haha f*cking twisties!

In two words: Luxury, slow...

Very nice place to be, which is good, because you spend more time there as journeys take longer haha.

It has a good pull to it, which makes it ideal for the motorway. It's perfect for long journeys and I'm spending £70 on Diesel every two weeks, unlike the Clio, where it was at least £70-80 a week.

The Audi community isn't like this though. :( Going to my first VAG event this weekend though, so that'll be interesting.

As for the main topic - anyone fancy convoying there for Oldbury McDonalds?

I am still trying to work out a route...there is M6, M60, M62 or M6, A50 then M1 and over to Huddersfield using M62...I just want a decent run and short as possible.

If we are convoying up...I might suggest Hilton Park Services North on M6 so I dont have to go 20 miles out of my way just to head North again!!!

They've taken the Facebook list down due to the numbers being so great - he also doesn't want his son finding out the severity of his condition...

I've been told we should check in at scoobynet. :)

I don't mean to put a downer on this as I think it's absolutely great and may be able to make it myself...but what's happening regarding organisation etc. (E.G we saw how chaotic things got with only a 100 ish cars with little organisation at the chester meet, ended up with a crash too).

Is there some sort of events coordination company involved? Otherwise I can see it being a case of driving there, endeing up stuck in a traffic jam of performance cars about a mile from the site, not getting any closer and driving home after an hour, and possibly even ending up in an accident with a 1.1 saxo.

I'm impressed with the turn outs I've seen on various forums but it seems there could potentially be a couple of thousand cars is there anything in place?

I thought this. I'm not organising it, so I'm not going to worry. I assume they have it sorted, otherwise there'd have been a cap.

Can't miss this for the world.

I am not organising it either. I am arranging a convoy up there for us lot in the West Midlands and any people further North or South who may want to tag along with us.

I think we're meeting up at a place and trying to make this lad's day. I don't think its about leaving point (a) and then teararsing to point (b) {that only a few people know where it is!}

I just want us lot from CS to be together as I'm getting the banner so we can show our backing towards this hopefully once in a lifetime kind of day for the little man! (as I know most people wouldn't want to be in the same position as either the father or his son)

I know we're not organising it lol.
What I was asking was if you knew anything of the organisation as I only know of it through here?
I hope it's not a load of idiots 'teararsing from a to b' for the kids sake more than anything but I'm curious as to if there's anything to make the event run smoothly as getting potentially thousands of cars into a venue could a) cause chaos, b) cause accidents and c) people may give up after 2 hours of sitting in traffic outside the venue.
I'm only asking like I say don it's a long old way to make no difference to the lads day (and don't get the banner out) as we don't even get close to the venue?

I really am not suggesting we don't go or anything if that's how it seems as I'll come myself I'm just asking if you know of anything to prevent a complete disaster.

They changed the venue due to numbers, if that helps...

He set it up for small gathering, then due to the nature behind why it is happening...its become massive. Hence time change and location change. Chances are it might move again due to numbers.

From what I can see there will be peeps from w.mids...n.west and yorks.

I'm pretty sure I saw this lad at Trax yesterday, there was basically an escort of Maxxis people allowing a guy and an unwell child allowing meet & greet with everything and photos etc.

Maybe it wasn't him, but it was indeed sad.

Can anyone walk in? I'm going to go, park down the road and walk in, well that's the plan.

  clio 172, mondeo td
if your coming up the m6, the easiest most straight forward way is up the m6 to junction 19, come over the onto the a556, then straight onto the m56 straight onto the m60 and cut around stockport on there and get off at junction 23 (ashton under lyne) then follow the a635 and its about 10-15 miles it will take you staright over to meltham itself and theres some good roads out that way too, if you come over greenfield (you'll see dovestone reservior athe bottom of the hill) there are 50 mph speed camera signs but there are not any cameras up there at all.

Plus theres parking up meltham mills road (the industrial estate is shut at weekends) so if you cant get into fred lawtons you can park up there on the road side, i wouldnt go up near the tip though they have trucks coming and going all day and dont care much if your in the way.

No mate. They have closed the list and are demanding that people dont leave their cars down the road and turn up. Could you organise a lift with someone on the list?
