Issues receiving email, my end or theirs? (oo-er)

I got this from someone at work earlier, basically saying someone was having issues sending us mail... now I'm not massively up on email stuff, but I thought some of you lot may well be....

We had trouble delivering your message. Full details follow:

Subject: 'Power Strips'
Date: 'Mon, 5 Sep 2011 10:18:13 +0100'

2 error(s):

SMTP Server <xxxxxxxxx.co.uk> rejected recipient <xxxxx.xxxxx@.co.uk> (Error following RCPT command). It responded as follows: [550 Sender verify failed]

SMTP Server <xxxxxxxxx.co.uk> rejected recipient <xxxxx.xxxxx@xxxxxx.co.uk> (Error following RCPT command). It responded as follows: [550 Sender verify failed]

All ideas welcomed.

Might sound daft, but if they're using Outlook, check if they need authentication for outgoing mail.

The sender needs to go to accounts, 'more/advanced settings', then outgoing server tab. Tick the 'my outgoing server requires authentication'.

I'm not worried if it's the sender, he can go do one, but I just wanted to check it wasn't our end.

Had a good look, doesn't seem like it is, end of :)
