Laptop Power Jack

  tiTTy & SV650
Mines knackered, does it mean a new motherboard? Or is it possible to just solder a new jack on? It's an Acer Aspire 1670 P4 Laptop...

maybe instead of a jack inside it'd be worthwhile having a wire coming out with jack on it then use that to connect to?

Pain in the ass!

Dont see why you shouldn't be able to solder a new one on really, just might require some careful soldering.

Did this on a friends laptop (not sure of brand, or model) but its quite easy, they'll be 2 rather large (compared to the other soldering pads) contact pads on the PCB, just solder onto that.

Just make sure you get the polarity right if your going to use a wire coming out of the laptop then a jack. and also make sure its secured inside the laptop so it doesn't snag and pull the wires off the pads.

If you find out what size the plug is (the outer dia, and inner) I should be able to get ahold of a few from work, and send them in an envelope to you FOA :)
