late 172 models, different cylinder head?

As the title suggests, I am just enquiring if anybody knows about the different engine types on the late 2003-early 2004 172 models.

I have seen a post on the Projects section that suggests that the car is a late 2003 which incorporates the 182 head (f4r 738). The only problem is the car is based in France so I was wondering if it is the same for car in the U.K?

So is it only on late Cups that have the same head as the 182s?

No idea tbh, I know the ph1's had big exhaust valves but that's it. There is slight differences in the cam cover/breather plates between the engines also, again which has what I'm not 100%.

Nah they changed the shape of the exhaust ports on the later 182 heads. Early ph2 172 had oval and 182's had the rectangular shaped ports. Emission related iirc.
