Leaky Door Seal!!

Hello,

I have got a 2002 clio 172 and every time it rains I have a nice little trickle of water that comes in the passenger door and soaks the floor and the mat! I have checked the rubber seal around the door and their is no grit or anything that is stuck in it and the door doesnt seem to have dropped and I dont think the car has had a crunch to that side?!

Anyone else have this problem before with this type of car?

No - i work at a Renault specialist and that is not a common fault. The best thing to do is remove the seat and sit in the car with the interior door panel removed. Then fix a hose pipe to a step ladder and sprinkle the water over the door. Then sit in the car with a torch and try to see if you can spot were the water is coming in.

I can see where the water comes in, it comes in about 3/4 of the way along the bottom of the door. Im also afraid to admit I am female and if I took the car seat out I dont ever think I would get it back in again!?

the seal on the top picture ( no 4 ) is part number 7701207588 £42.07 from renault

the seal on the bottom picture ( no 1 ) is part number 7700843121 £42.64

It will be one of these that are at fault - if its the main door seal that goes all the way around the door aperture frame ( pic 2... no1 ) then pull it off and re-position it so its not in the same position as it was before - ie move it around the frame 25%.

I can hear a whistling sound coming from my drivers door, wind sound as I drive along but its not easy to pin point whilst driving

My door seal leaked for a while too. But it was marking the roof lining over the door near the windscreen. Since i took the seal off and poured in some silicon sealant, it seems to have done the trick... for now anyway.

kate...we have had this...it turned out to be the door seal in behind the door trim/card...it has come unstuck..

I can actually see where the water trickles in from and it does seem to be the rubber bit that goes round the whole of the door, I was just a bit worried as knowing me I wont get the stupid thing back on!!
