Little bump in the clio

Driving from the DVLA centre in Sheffield to work there was a white van doing some crazy maneuver at a crossroads (appeared as he was reversing around the corner but was infact doing a 3-point turn).
As he was reversing I carried on up the road but then he started coming forward so I braked and served to miss him crashing into a kerb :dapprove:

I hit the kerb at the drivers side front end but the passenger side seat airbag and seatbelt tensioner activated (could someone explain this please) and the only damage I can see is:
- Passenger airbag
- Passenger seatbelt tensior
- Drivers alloy
- Drivers balljoint bolt snapped

Any severe lateral movement will trigger the bags and tensioners if it's severe enough.

Just couldn't understand why the drivers side airbag or seatbelt tensioner activated :S

They're not all on the same circuit. They can trip independently, depending on the 'impact'

- rkc69 - was just a little bit smaller than the kerbs you get at bus-stops

- Ralphizzle - he got out and asked I had seen him, I said yeah but you were reversing then all of a sudden you decided to drive towards me.

- SimonRoyale - yeah went deaf for about 5mins, I thought he had hit me and pushed me into the kerb with the passenger side airbag going off.

Cars booked in at Renault to get a free healthcheck, on the hunt for a new alloy now. Still in 2 minds whether to get sport front seats or just pay for mine to be restitched (£15) and leave airbag out

God I bet that made a bang! Did the car fill with white smoke too? An airbag going off is some scary sh*t! You're lucky yours didn't go off, woulda been a nice burn on your arm!

Would have probably went through insurance if both airbags went off but seen as though its only the one then it'll probably be cheaper to fix myself.
- Front bumper needs spraying or changing to RS bumper
- Passenger seat wants stitching or stitching & airbag or RS seats
- Seatbelt pre-tensioner (How much are these?)
- New dynamique alloy or different alloys

Yeah more than likely will need resetting, is this a dealer thing or can it be done at a local garage?
