Mazda 6 MPS detail. Contains new auto finesse products

Knuckles

Fingers crossed my bandwidth lasts

@Chi asked me to try and bring some life back into his new 6 MPS. I started last week and finished yesterday, 13 hours in total.

Drove up to see Chi's new unit but ended up working in Bloke's unit, cheers

Very dirty mps

Chi wanted everything that could be removed removing; plates, trim, spoiler badges etc. So I could get as much of the car corrected as possible.

The car was then washed with auto finesse lather

Hit the whole car with ironx, surprisingly there wasn't much fallout on the bodywork

1cc8603ccaffe3198913126490bc62bb_zps09ec83cf.jpg

Then the bodywork was tardis'd, didn't get any pictures as it took ages! So very much tar. Blue roll was saturated to remove the adhesive holding the plates, badges and trim in place. Then the car was reformed, rewashed and clayed. The clay picked up quite a bit of excess detritus. I've never seen clay come off a car orange!

It was given a rinse down and dried. Then taken inside for a look see at what I was dealing with

Day 2

Chi dropped the car off at mine at 20 to 10, had a quick look around it and saw it picked up minimal detritus since last week.

My amazing £5 DA started to play up so I went to steal Aucky's DA. Was a brilliant idea as mine packed in completely before I got to @Auto Finesse's ultra glaze.

Very nice product, spreads far, smells awesome and comes off brilliantly. Applied via DA all over

Centre of the bonnet glazed. I'm not sure if the pictures picked it up but in person you could really see the difference.

After the car was glazed I moved onto Auto finesse's new was, essence.

I'm not sure where this fits in in their roster but it's very oily, more so than spirit, less than illusion. So maybe on par with desire.

It spreads stupidly far but leaves a residue so you can see where you've done. Iirc I had problems seeing desire... But that was on a yellow car so maybe it's the colour?

Smells nice too, much like the other AF waxes.

Applied via DA on a soft finishing pad.

I turned my attention to the door trims which were removed last week

I didn't get any befores of here but I suspect a boot strut burst at some point, it was caked in what I only imagine is grease and or faeces.

Saturated with quick detailer and RDS, agitated then saturated again.

Lovely stuff! Colour really is special. Surprised you used the DA to wax as the pot was tiny! Was that a 3 inch pad?

I'm guessing you used the AF pad the G3?

Why did you decide to clean the boot shut after you'd polished the car you lunatic?? :S

Great write up though, the colour looks amazing!

Can I assume cliosport.net has lost Chi now? Is he off to an MPS Forum seeing as he's now got a his n hers??

waste, debris, muck etc etc... An older bloke I used to work with got me saying it lol

i found dabbing the pot on the pad transferred enough to do a couple of panels... Then I scooped some out and put it onto pad myself. 5" I think it is.

Yeah, the coarse AF pad with g3

This is unusual for me but I really enjoyed reading that.

Top work!

Glad to hear thank you :)

Nice Job mate, very nice results and not a bad correction!

thanks, I'd have liked to have tried for more correction but I was pushed for time and didn't feel safe to without a ptg

I know :dapprove: I finished earlier than I expected so I thought I'd clean that bit. Wasn't expecting to do it at all tbh.

cheers, if the tax wasn't so stupid on the car I'd have it just for the colour.

Going by the amount of Clio's in his garden and unit I doubt he's going anywhere for the foreseeable lol

Didn't look like you were getting much cut at all from Rev 1 combo? Not detailed a Mazda but presumed they were just as soft as Toyota? Which I found soft enough that rejuvenate on a finishing pad nipped out a little.

Thats a beautiful colour. Did you feel the glaze added much in the way of gloss or flake?

  Golf GT & A4 Avant
Also if the wax is as soft as suggested like illusion it'll be a pure pleasure to use by hand instead of machine applying. For the simple pleasure of applying, I will choose a wax over sealant if time allows

I thought it was cutting fine as per the pics of day 1, but when I got it home and in the sun I was shocked at how many swirls it left. It did remove a lot don't get me wrong but not as much as I thought/expected.

I thought it was going to be very soft, I left the pics out for bandwidth purposes but I tried tripple on a finishing pad and rev #2 before settling on rev #1 then g3.

I was a bit cynical before applying the glaze but I must admit I saw a difference in gloss immediately. I can't comment on the flake as it was overcast by the time I got round to applying it, but this mornings sun brought the flake out brilliantly.

I did the wax by machine purely because it was all set up and it was stupidly hot. So I needed a quick application lol

Top job Knuckles

Bet you are even happier with that now Chi

Yes mate absolutely love the car but paint let it down.. perfect now so very happy.

I was tempted but I restrained myself. But moving it around it's very well behaved, I was expecting it to be nuts when you touch the throttle but you wouldn't know it was so powerful when pootling around. It's very quiet too.

Should of took it up the road mate. .. Next time I'll go with you.

It's very civilised when you want it to be and sleeperish now it's debadged.

Looks great chap! Sounds like you need a decent DA rather than the cheapo one (Halfrauds per chance?). Amazed a few hits of AF didn't shift the swirls as Mazda paint is usually pretty soft. Also noted a few holograms in some of the after photos (could be just excess wipe down), so defo the machine rather than polish.

Echo Dan's comments about the boot shuts. You need to get all wet work out the way first. And use a bit of AF Triple on the shuts, you'll be amazed at the difference and it lays down a little bit of protection as well.

Other than the nit-picking, great job and boy did those exhausts come up well! That was my highlight!

cheers, no it was the Unbranded meg g220 from sourcing map (there was a thread where everyone got refunded). It was an awesome little polisher until the clutch went.

The he holograms I think is residue I missed (I'll go back through the pics to double check mind) , I think I was thorough enough to avoid them as I knew the pics would be scrutinised on here

cheers for the tripple tip.

I was was expecting the exhausts to be a right pain but it took about 15 minutes to get them both shining again.
