New brakes question.

Afternoon,

Just fitted some new disc brakes and pads all round on my Ph2 172.

Took it out for a blast this morning and was bedding them in by braking from 30mph etc. Not done any hard braking as of yet.

When I pulled up I could smell like a burning type smell coming from the brakes and there was a little bit of smoke coming from them. Is this normal for new pads and discs to do this?

Pads and discs are just standard jobbies.

Yes...it's burning off the coating on the pads. You need to get rid of this before the proper pad material is in contact with the discs.

Any tips on bedding them in.

Been slowing down from 30mph to nearly stand still and did this for about 15 mins or so this morning. When do I increase the speed and start slamming on harder etc??
