New car!! Albi Blue RenaultSport Clio 200

  Renaultsport Clio200
Hi all,

So I posted a few days ago looking for some help finding a replacement for my beloved 172, and after much waffling between a 182 or a 197, have actually ended up with a 200 instead - not sure how that happened haha :p but sadly as I'm up in NE Scotland and it's all the way down near London I can't pick it up til the 23rd boooo :( can't wait to see it in person and take it for a drive though, more than anything I want a proper nosey around it as the dealership didn't seem to know much about the specs are they aren't a specialised Renault garage. From some of the photos they sent me though it looks like it has the climate control and what seems to be half-leather seats which I think are possibly Recaros (hoping this means it's the full fat version, don't know how to tell if it has the Cup chassis though). So in the meantime here's a sneak peek, will be back with more pics and hopefully details once it's in my hands :)

get a cornering light conversion done to it and you will be laughing! Looks very smart. You're a brave man as well to be buying blind! :p

Think i've seen that one before somewhere. It has 197 wheels, not the correct 200 wheels, cup pack, and re-trimmed recaro seats :)

Brave woman actually :p but you are right, it's a scary prospect making such a huge purchase from a distance like I am! Don't have much choice though, trying to find RS Clios of any kind up here isn't easy at all, had to go to DTM in Newcastle for my first one lol. Just hoping there's nothing horrifically wrong with it once I'm down there and that I'll fall in love with Recaros once I try them - haven't been able to find any cars with them up here to try sitting in them yet, fingers crossed they are comfy....

I'd be a tiny bit concerned about the gearbox life, due to it spending time on track. These don't have the strongest boxes...

:-( that's got me worried a bit now, I know the RS 197s/200s in general didn't exactly have the most reliable gearboxes, but I was hoping this one wouldn't be too bad yet as the mileage was only 39120. I'd imagine it's a pricey thing to fix as well :-/

Yes that used to be my car :( (although it went nearly a year ago)

It had some bits done to it before I got it, seats are leather and alcantara with colour coded stitching done by Edge Automotive. Seats are very supportive. Car is lowered on H&R springs also done before it purchased it, these are quite harsh on uneven / potholed roads. Wheels are from a 197, but look better than the standard 200 wheels imo. The centre silnecer has also been removed from the exhaust, giving it a better noise, only issue I had was the join leaking through a poor job of sealing it up. Also had a track rod end replaced, probably due to the stiffer springs and poor roads.

I also had concerns with the gearbox, just before the warranty expired, so whacked it in at my local Renault garage for them to check it, they said it was fine and nothing wrong with it. I did it just incase there was an issue and it failed in the next few months, I had some form of proof that I had previously raised it as a concern.

When I had it I took care of it, changed the oils and things, I had all the tyres replaced with conti 5's.
Thats from when I had it, but that was a year ago, depends who has owned it in the mean time.

If you have any queries or things send me a message and I will try and help you out.

Looks like a nice car, not sure on the 197 alloys, I think I would get a set of black speedlines at some point and change the gearbox oil :approve:

Dont worry about the gearbox. Mines done about 20 track days and Im just about to replace my box at 88k. But only because i want to refresh it. I found a brand new box for £348. So its not the end of the world. I wouldnt worry that its been on track either, it looks well cared for and thats all that matters :)

I swapped the standard seats in mine for some Recaros, and IMO the Recaros are comfier.
