Options with £2000 to spend

Hey guys

I have been looking for a while and have got it down as the parents are going to be trading in an 06 clio soon,

They will be getting a newer model so ive decided to join in when they trade and get hold of a renault

The only problem is to go for a twingo 133/gt or an older 172/182???

Thoughts? It will be used for uni for the next few months then placement and work!

Insurance is about the same for all.

I think your budget answers your question. Can you pick up a twingo for under 2k?

The 172 felt better put together than the Twingo 133s i've been in. You could get a 182 if you look hard enough or a mint 172.

Any one link me to a good 172? Just so i can have a look?

Also what big things should i look out for with the 172/182

Main thing is service history, specifically the cambelt. It's around a £500 job, and due every 5 years. So if it isn't done expect to fork out money/risk the engine failing if it snaps. It's also worth noting these are notoriously a pain to time correctly (or seem to be), so if the receipt is from a specialist that's another plus. Heard a few reports of receipts being forged, so probably also worth checking the garage in question if it's really done (if it's done at all).

Someone down my road bought a Twingo RS before Christmas and I think it looks absolutely spanking! More beefy than my 182 actually... shame they're down on horse power.
