overheating?

last few days i have noticed my car acting funny when its heated up.... i drove from newtownabbey to bangor, ruffly about 20mile are so? when i stop at traffic lights heading into bangor, the car was ticking over quite funny, as i reved the car it sounded like a subarua.... and it was backfiring and spitting like mad.... any idea? i checked the spark plugs and etc there ok, just new ones in less than 1K ago and another thing, i changed the timing belt and everytime the car starts from cold it makes a loud squeek noise?

who did your timing belt? was it renault or a specialist? as to get the correct timing locking tools are required. Could be lack of grease in tensioner bearings /bad tension causing the squeek. Did you do the aux belt as well. The bad hessitation might be coil pack though

Sounds like your first problem is a coil pack as that will cause the misfiring
