Painting rocker cover

  BG 182FF
Is it possible to paint the rocker cover whilst its still on the car ? ( top inlet removed obviously )

would it NEED to be heat resistant paint?? As I'd imagine racing blue is hard to find heat proof lol

If so how did you do it? Just cover and mask everything you can and crack on ??

To paint the rocker cover whilst its still on the car is nice and straight forward mate. You need to fully degrease the rocker cover first to remove any oily deposits, then get everywhere you don't want painting masked/covered up. Next job is to give the rocker cover a quick going over with a scotchbrite pad to give the primer something to key to. Blow off any dust and give it a few coats of etch primer. I use acid 8 for this job and is available from halfrauds.

If you want to paint it RB you'll be fine with regular automotive paint mate. It will need to be lacquered with a fuel/oil resistant lacquer. Do a search for autopaint and it'll bring up a company in St. Helens that will mix up any colour you wish pretty much in a rattle can! Easy!
