Ph1 172 exhaust advice

  BG DCI
Hi guys,

The only things needing doing on my Ph1 172 is the exhaust needs changing soon.

I believe however that my Ph1 only has 1 lambda sensor on the cat? (hope this is making sense, I know about but not huge amounts)

I understand also that Ph2 after market exhausts will fit a Ph1 but as long as you have '2' sensors...

Did later Ph1's come with 2, or can you just purchase a Ph2 cat? but then what about the other sensor ect.

It all got abit too much searching so thought I would as for some advice.

Thanks alot

Liam.

Ph1's upto Y reg in my experience had 1 sensor, any Y plate ones had 2 sensors.

Look under the car, if you can see a lambda just under the gear stick you have 2 sensors.

A ph2 decat fits to bring it up to 2 sensors.

Yes you are correct, to fit a phase 2 exhaust to my phase 1 I had to fit the phase 1 cat with 2 sensors as its longer than the phase 1 one with one sensor, with hindsight I would have just made up a small connecting piece to fit the gap, cause its very fiddly connecting the cat to the exhaust manifold.

Yeah I just fitted a Mk1 ktec stealth and it has a sleeved john to the cat.

Ahh thats amazing..

Im guessing this one from 2009 will have one aswell..

Any idea what I can do about having a decat?

will the generic ktec decat be fine as the exhaust should be sleeved?

Thanks
