please help problem with gear selecting

hi,my clutch went on my car a couple of days ago,its a mark 1 phase 1 clio 1.2 petrol. i decided to do my clutch my self as i was really skint n i needed my car straight away.it all went well taking it apart and together.but when i came to driving it... you dont have to lift the gear stick up to get it into reverse and you do to get it into reverse. the gear stick also seems to seem to lean to the left abit. i was wondering has had this problem. and if any one knows whats up with it please help thanx from mat

just the linkage needs adjustment by the sound of it

Did you replace the gearbox oil? Also did you check you put the right amount in, or got it on the level drain?
