Remapping 172 FF Find a MAP to upload???

I bought a cable that remaps the ECU using the OBDII port.....

Needless to say the software that comes with it is rubbish! It reads the map and I have the original backed up however Im trying to find a Group n or tuned map I can put on. Any one know where I could get this from?

Also I could do with some better software does anyone know of a good program thats cheap/free that I could use. I have been looking on google and stuff but not havong much luck!

Bump !

Tried uploading a map of fastchips web site and the car wouldn't start how anoying but restored the original map and it worked fine. Any mapper person on here fancy selling a map for me to up load????

Don't quote me as it might not be this complicated in every circumstance.

But I'm pretty sure a map needs to be tailored to your car (at least in a few places) as there are some checksums that need to equate, that would be different from car to car.

I have the orignal map to get those from !
however I dont have any software to edit it so im stuck?
Could do with sending my original to some one to be tuned and sent back

The Chip is built into the cable end for the flashing!
why is a box inbetween important anyway if it was just a cable?

u need a specialist map to match ur car and to match the hardware to put it in, hence the reason all group n remaps are put in with a specialist box between the cable and the computer

ur on the way to messing up ur car by half assing remaps

fastchips rstuner kit is piss easy to use and gets u a proper group n remap

No offence but what do you expect, your trying to remap your car with various software from 1 site and hardware from somewhere else, mate your asking for trouble :clown:

all i was saying was if you buy the rstuner kit from fastchip you'll get a proper group n remap

if u have bought a cable and the software supplied is crap it kind of indicates that its a cheap knockoff that doesnt work

Get on to fastchips and get the rstuner, or email henk and see if he can just do you a map

This "specialist" box you speak of simply has a read cable, write cable and a flash chip LOL!

the maps arnt exactly special, all clio 172 group N maps generic (the same)

He hasnt messed the car up at all, he has the proper flasher cable, but the map he tried didnt work correctly (suspected imobiliser issues). so he has re-loaded the orignal map back on.

the kit works!!! it reads and writes maps just fine as its supposed too.
I only need to edit the map which doesn't come with the kit. I could do with either editing software or a custom map making up to the charateristics of a group N map. there not all different maps though as you can buy ecu's off the shelf and fit them however im aware that they have been unlocked.

Also if I already have the hardware which can read/write ecu's why buy another one?

hmm your treading on dodgy ground tbh (im talking from experience )
thing is, technically, the kit to read and write isnt massively expensive, but may well screw up your ecu.
also, the 'pukka' tuners out there (paul @ rstuning, pete @ bellautos & henk @ fastchip off top of my head) would rather you burn in hell before sending you their handywork which they earn a living from hoping you dont distribute it over the net !
Also, the map itself could be obtained relatively easily as a 'generic' one would probably suffice (yeah i know custom ones are better but for a na car a generic one is as good...) but each map is coded to the vin and needs crc and csums corrected before it will work. sure grab winols and do it yourself but the license is a 5 figure sum hence why ppl protect their own work.
You may be lucky and get a map of tinternet to work and hope its genuine and suitable for your car, or you may be also lucky and get one of the reputable tuners to sell you a copy of your map which has been tweak and locked to your car stopping you from distributing it.

its something i also looked at and went as far as reading the flash of my ecu to get done but thats a different kettle of fish.
as a side note, which lead did you get and where from and what sw were you using as I was under the impression that not of the cheap and nasty stuff worked anymore as specific seed values were needed by the reading / writing sw (im guessing a kwp2000)

No its a Gallato 1250, your proberly right that its hard to get hold of a map, however the idea of doing it myself appeals. I like doing things myself and think most of the fun is in the challenge.

I can see why all the big remappers arn't jumping to give there product away very understanderable. I was looking on some open source ecu tuning forums where software to edit them is free. However sayingthat finding software that works is hard.
