for 1200 you only going to be able to get a japan bing bong 250..
my brother has 2 suzuki ltr 450 .. 1 racing one and the other for the road and a mate has a raptor 700..
there the only to makes to get ..
quads need to be serviced every 4-500 miles of road use and the engines dont last every long.. valve steam seals are normaly the first to go then the piston gets smashed to bits the cylinder f***s up..
your better off getting a enduro/mx road legal bike..

double your budget and go for a suzuki ltz. it runs a drz400 engine - so parts are easierly available. The engines are very reliable as long as valves/timing chains are adjusted, and they get regular oil changes.
stick with a known brand as at least you will see some return when you come to sell it.

i go enduro riding most weekends and a guy that joins us rides one. it gets driven properly over all terrain and it hasnt failed on him yet.

Don't get anything unless you know the brand, you've fucked it when bits start falling off otherwise.
