Saturday afternoon drive! [Jap & Pommy content] Featuring the broken city.

Been a bit inactive on here lately... How's everyone in blighty? :p

Fancied a drive this afternoon & dad wanted some pics of his car with some Christchurch landmarks etc to show his TVR friends back home.

Came out pretty well IMO xD

This is the old AMI rugby stadium, was absolutely ruined in the earthquakes, it basically sunk on one side... Still undecided what they're going to do with it, they can repair it I think, but they won't be able to insure it ever again, which means people aren't allowed to enter :/

This is the memorial garden for where the CTV building used to be. It was destroyed completely in the second quake and killed hundreds of people :/ And yes that building in the background with the blue chick on it, is a strip club.

These are the two broken cathedral's. They're still undecided about what to do with both of them. I personally think they should knock them down and build newer, better cathedrals.

The spray paint on the door is what the rescue teams did after they searched buildings. This one was all clear.

This is a memorial opposite the CTV site, each chair for every life that was lost. Every chair is different.

This is the cardboard cathedral, originally was meant to be a temporary thing while they rebuild/repair the other cathedrals. You can just about see the cardboard tubes that hold it up.

Sounded brutal!

Also here's a video I made from a local track day a couple weeks ago!

I remember renting a bike when I visited Christchurch and going very quickly down Port Hills, great roads up there!
Very sad seeing the damage still there, without repairs/replacements organised.
The chairs are very poignant indeed.
Reminds me of the ones in Krakow near Schindler's factory, now museum.

Yeah it's great for mountain biking!

It's slowly getting there, definitely taking some time though. When we first arrived there was still loads of buildings still to come down, but most of them have been demolished now.
